WCA Global Legislative Assembly – November 2, Nominees Sought for WCA Council Class of 2021

August 31, 2018

The first Global Legislative Assembly of the Wesleyan Covenant Association (WCA) will be held at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, 4385 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, Georgia, on Friday, November 2, 2018. The Global Legislative Assembly meets annually to elect members of the Council of the WCA and to conduct business on behalf of the membership of the WCA. This year’s Global Legislative Assembly will act on a number of legislative matters as the WCA interacts with proposals made by the Commission on a Way Forward of The United Methodist Church and looks toward the future of a vital, vibrant Methodist movement.

The WCA is committed to advancing the historic Christian faith in the Wesleyan tradition and connects Spirit-filled, orthodox laity, clergy, and churches. Committed to the authority of Scripture and the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the WCA is focused on a positive and faithful future for the people called Methodists.

Delegates to the Global Legislative Assembly will represent WCA members from around the world. Delegates from each regional chapter are allocated based upon the number of WCA member individuals and churches located in each regional area and elected by each regional chapter. More than 150 delegates will be present for the Global Legislative Assembly on November 2.

The WCA Council is composed of 27 members divided into three classes with each class serving a three-year term. The current members of the WCA Council are listed here. The term of the Class of 2018, composed of nine individuals, expires with the adjournment of the 2018 Global Legislative Assembly and will be replaced by the Class of 2021. The WCA Council will nominate persons to serve in the Class of 2021; however, additional nominations may be made by any WCA member. In order to be considered, nominations for the WCA Council must be received in writing by October 1. In order to be nominated, a person must be a WCA member and must affirm the WCA’s Statement on Biblical Authority, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Moral Principles found in Article I of the WCA Bylaws.

If you are a WCA member and you wish to nominate yourself or another WCA member to serve on the WCA Council as a member of the Class of 2021, you must complete a Nomination Form and return the form to Teresa Marcus, Executive Secretary to the President of the WCA, at tmarcus@wesleyancovenant.org, by October 1.
