Dear WCA Members and Friends,
It is with profound sadness and loss that I share with you the news of the death of Bishop John Yambasu of the Sierra Leone Annual Conference, who was killed in an automobile accident on Sunday morning, August 16.
Bishop Yambasu blessed The United Methodist Church with his faith and leadership. He was the catalyst for gathering leaders of the various factions in the UM Church for the talks which produced the Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace through Separation. He was an important voice throughout those discussions.
I know you join me in giving thanks for his life and ministry, and in praying for all who are poorer today for his absence. His life and ministry among us bore much fruit. His wise counsel and gentle spirit will be greatly missed. I know you all join in prayers for his wife, children, and grandchildren, for the people of Sierra Leone, and for The United Methodist Church. We all give thanks for his incredible life, spirit, and work.
