Jonathan Razon to Address WCA’s Fifth Global Gathering, Go Global!

The Wesleyan Covenant Association is honored to announce that the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Razon, the senior pastor at The Living Faith United Methodist Church in Murong, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines, will make a presentation at its Fifth Global Gathering – Go Global! – at Frazer Church in Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

“It is a privilege to have my good friend Jonathan Razon bring a presentation to our Global Gathering this year,” said the Rev. Keith Boyette, President of the WCA. “In the Philippines Jonathan has assumed a number of critical leadership roles for the church. His passion for sharing the good news of Jesus Christ shines through whether he’s preaching the word, teaching seminary students, or helping a local community secure micro-financing for projects that lift people out of poverty.”

At the Global Gathering, Razon will make a presentation entitled, “Fearless: Standing before the Council,” based on Peter’s defense of the gospel before the religious leaders in Jerusalem.

Razon was elected by his annual conference to represent it at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Philippines Central Conferences. He was also elected to serve as a delegate to the UM Church’s 2016 and 2019 General Conferences. He is the past chairman of the Archives and History of the Philippines Central Conference and the past vice-chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Philippines Central Conference. He is also a current member of the Wesleyan Covenant Association’s Global Council.

“Jonathan was one of the most outstanding district superintendents of his generation,” said Bishop Peter Torio, the episcopal leader of the Baguio Area in the Philippines. “But above all, he is faithful and obedient to the word of God. He also envisions and steadfastly works for the revival of the Methodist movement though the emergence of a new global church that glorifies our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through its faithful proclamation of the gospel.”

Pastor, teacher, and human rights worker, Razon received his Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in Dasmarinas, Cavite, Philippines. He also received a Master of Arts in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford, Bradford, England, and a Doctoral Degree in Organizational Planning and Development from Northeastern College, Santiago City, Isabela, Philippines.

Jonathan is married the Rev. Romelda G. Razon, who is an ordained UM Church deacon and pre-school teacher. They live in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines.
