Empowered by Jesus

“When we are transformed by the one who conquerors all things, we can be sure nothing will stand in our way,” said Mr. Simon Mafunda, the Wesleyan Covenant Association’s Africa Coordinator. “And when God fills our hearts and minds, we will have some sense of that joy the disciples experienced when they returned to Jesus and shared what had been accomplished by the power of his Name!”

Mafunda was addressing over 2,000 people who attended More Than Conquerors, the Wesleyan Covenant Association’s Sixth Global Gathering at Kingsway Christian Church in Avon, Indiana, and at 80 simulcast sites on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Reflecting on the Gospel of Luke, chapter 10, Mafunda invited WCA members and friends to see that just as Jesus empowered his disciples for the sake of God’s kingdom, he longs to do the same with us.

“Sisters and brothers, in my country, Zimbabwe, we have faced many challenges in just my lifetime. Perhaps worst of all, hyperinflation wreaked havoc on [its] economy. A country once considered the breadbasket of Africa was reduced to the continent’s beggar within a few years. To my knowledge, Zimbabwe is the only country to have issued a one hundred trillion-dollar bill, but it was practically worthless,” he said. “For many days, months, and even years the challenges seemed insurmountable. But I do believe, with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my mind, that Jesus has called me and many others to teach, to preach, to heal, and to proclaim that Jesus is Lord! Despite all the challenges and our own limitations, I believe I am, I believe you are, called every day to be about the mission of sharing the Gospel with our words and with our deeds!”

When the Ordinary Becomes Extraordinary

It has become a tradition at WCA Global Gatherings for the secretary of the association’s council to deliver a brief report regarding the work of its legislative assembly. Ms. Elizabeth Fink did just that, and then she shared a personal testimony that brought everyone in attendance to their feet.

Enjoy a very moving, bonus presentation!
